Moving FAQ’s

When should I call BusyBee Movers?

As soon as you have a clear moving date in mind, contact Busy Bee movers. Often, we can manage to fit in last-minute moves, but during the busy season there might not be enough availability for you to get the time slot you want. By contacting us early, you can guarantee our service exactly when you want it.

How long does BusyBee Movers need for an in-home estimate?

An in-home estimate by one of our expert service professionals often lasts about 30 minutes.

What are my responsibilities?

Before the team from Busy Bee comes in to move your items, you’ll need to take care of a few things first. Unhook your appliances and electronics and move any firearms you might have, as well as flammables, money or jewelry. If you did your own packing, make sure that your boxes are taped and sealed in a secure manner.

Are there any items that cannot be transported?

Our policy at Busy Bee is to not move firearms or flammable items you might have. We appreciate your understanding.

Should I pack myself?

Many people handle their own packing in order to save money. However, when you account for the time and effort you put in, while not being 100% confident in the end result of that packing, it might be better to just contact the professionals at busy Bee. If you want to handle some of your packing yourself, we can come in and handle the rest.

Can I leave my clothes in their drawers?

Clothes in drawers are fine! However, be sure that there’s nothing other than clothes in the drawers that will be moving.

Should anything be done to my appliances to prepare them for the move?

Yes. Before your move, be sure to unhook any appliances or electronics you may have.

How long does it take to move?

Busy Bee movers operates on this general rule of thumb: with a two-person crew for moves less than 2000 square feet, it will take 30 minutes to load and 30 minutes to unload. With a three-person crew on moves 2000 square feet or more, it will likely take half 30 minutes to load and 30 minutes to unload for each room. This is not a completely accurate estimate, but enough for you to begin planning.

For example: 3 rooms typically takes a 2 man crew an average of 2 hours + 1 hour service charge = 3 hours

Am I protected against loss or damage while my goods are in transit?

The team from Busy Bee is fully licensed and insured so you will be protected from loss or damage on in-transit goods. Depending on your budget, there are different levels of valuation coverage to consider. Unless you purchase it before your move, you will be covered by our free basic coverage during your move.

Can my possessions be stored temporarily?

Yes, we can store your possessions temporarily. Depending on how long you need to store them, we have different options that we can go over with you.

What should I do with gas in the lawnmower?

We are able to move gas-powered items for you. However be sure to empty them of gas prior to us moving them.

Should I use 2 men or 3 men?

Generally, if you have five rooms or less that you’ll be moving with, a two-person crew should get the job done just fine. However with a three-person crew you will be able to save approximately 15 minutes per hour as opposed to a two-person crew. Sometimes, the additional charge for the extra man can be offset by the savings in terms of time.
