Moving FAQ’s

When should I call BusyBee Movers?

As soon as you have a moving date in mind. Many times we can do last minute moves but it is best, especially anytime other than winter, to get on our schedule as soon as possible.

How long does BusyBee Movers need for an in-home estimate?

In-home estimates typically average 30 minutes.

What are my responsibilities?

Unhooking appliances and electronics, moving firearms, flammables and money/jewelry. If you did your own packing, make sure the boxes are closed and taped securely.

Are there any items that cannot be transported?

We do not move firearms or flammables.

Should I pack myself?

Many people do to save money. However, one should factor in their time, work ours missed, packing skills, packing material transporting- into the equation.

Can I leave my clothes in their drawers?

Yes; just remove anything other than clothing.

Should anything be done to my appliances to prepare them for the move?

Yes. Please unhook or disconnect appliances before the move.

How long does it take to move?

As a general rule of thumb for our company: ½ hour to load and ½ hour to unload per room total time with a 2 man crew on moves less than 2,000 sq ft. or ½ hour to load and ½ hour to unload per room total time with a 3 man crew on moves 2,000 sq ft. or more. Many other variables come into play that can affect the overall time but this is a general idea.

For example: 3 rooms typically takes a 2 man crew an average of 2 hours + 1 hour service charge = 3 hours

Am I protected against loss or damage while my goods are in transit?

Yes. We are licensed and insured. There are different levels of valuation coverage to choose from depending on your budget from basic free coverage to replacement valuation insurance. Unless it is purchased prior to your move, the free basic coverage will come standard with the move.

Can my possessions be stored temporarily?

Yes. There are varying options for this depending on how long you need them temporarily stored.

What should I do with gas in the lawnmower?

We can move gas powered items as long as they are empty of gas.

Should I use 2 men or 3 men?

As a general rule of thumb, a 2 man crew can be used on 4-5 rooms or less. However, the advantage of a 3 man crew is that you save approx. 15 minutes per hour with a 3 man crew vs a 2 man crew. Therefore, the additional charge for the extra man is offset by the time saved.
